Downham Market Preview – 03/03/18

This Saturday marks the official retirement of long-serving Michael Mann after over half a century in the wrestling world. Downham Market acts as a fitting place to say farewell after also being the birthplace of one of the longest careers in wrestling history.

PJ Knight versus Brad Slayer
A rematch from our last visit to Downham Market takes places as PJ Knight looks to avenge his previous defeat against the former World Heavyweight champion. November’s match provoked a clear contempt between these two wrestlers so expect a brawl once they step inside the ring.

Steve Quintain versus Marvel Marcus
Old school takes on new school as Marvel Marcus looks to prove his abilities against the technical veteran Steve Quintain. Marcus brings a unique level of enthusiasm to the ring which may force the usually calculating Quintain to adapt or slow his opponent down by force.

Ricky Knight Jr versus Finley
Television champion Ricky Knight Jr offers the impressive young Finley a chance to prove himself in a non-title match. However, despite Finley’s clearly immense potential, the young wrestler seems content not to play by the rules and may find himself being taught a lesson by the high-flying RKJ.

The Ministry of Justice [Nemesis and SAS] versus The UK Hooligans [Zak and Roy Knight]
The Academy Tag Team champions take on former World Tag Team champions the UK Hooligans in what should be a friendly yet competitive contest. These two teams used to be heated rivals when the then-Midas Security were a constant thorn in the side of the Hooligans. But the Knight brothers now call Nemesis and SAS close friends and often fight side by side.

King Kendo versus Battlekat CT
Under-23 champion Battlekat CT faces perhaps the biggest challenge of his young career when he takes on reigning World Heavyweight champion King Kendo. The size and experience advantage definitely falls in favour of the heavyweight Kendo but CT often displays talents unmatched by opponents with years more experience than the teenage champion. Will CT provide a shock in Downham Market?

Paddy Taggart versus Villman
Its the battle of the North Sea as loveable Scot Paddy Taggart takes on the ice cold Norwegian warrior Villman. Such a stark contrast between the personalities and in-ring styles of these wrestlers should provide an interesting match.

The Metalheads [Axl Lynch and Ox Mason] versus Alexander Young and Jason Digby
Alexander Young appears to have taken fellow two-time Academy champion Jason Digby under his wing as the duo take on the Metalheads. Metalheads chief Axl Lynch is joined by Ox Mason in one of the most intimidating tag team combinations in WAW history. The Chosen One and his partner will undoubtedly already been planning how to cheat their way to victory against much stronger opposition.
